Mauricio Orozco-Alzate had his primary and secondary education at Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora (Colseñora) - Archdiocese of Manizales. He received his undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering, his M.Eng. degree in Industrial Automation and his Dr.Eng. degree in Automatics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Manizales, in 2003, 2005 and 2008 respectively. From February to August 2007, he served as a Research Fellow at the Information and Communication Theory Group - Pattern Recognition Laboratory of Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. Since August 2008, he has been with the Department of Informatics and Computing, Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Manizales. He is also a researcher of the Group on Signal Processing and Recognition at the same University. His main research interests encompass pattern recognition, digital signal processing and their applications to analysis and classification of seismic, bioacoustic and hydro-meteorological signals. Mauricio is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Caldas Ornithological Society (SCO).
